Private Lessons

The trumpet loves attention!

Like many things in life it requires dedication, resilience and patience. I’m currently accepting new students, whether you're a beginner or a “come-back” hobbyist. Yes, you’ll develop reliable skills to help you improve and master the instrument, but you will also gain a deeper understanding of the language we call ‘music’ as well as skills that will benefit you in whatever profession or path you find yourself walking in life.

Philosophy

I have benefitted from many teachers in my life and know that I am not the “only one” you will have either. I have studied with David Alan Zuercher (Principal Trumpet of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic), Mark Rafael (Jazz soloist for USAFA Falconaires), and William Pfund (former professor of trumpet at University of Northern Colorado and past president of the International Trumpet Guild) and many, many others. But from each teacher I have taken a few things that have eventually morphed into the trumpet player I am today. I have also learned some intensely valuable lessons from those that have only appeared briefly in my life. If I can pass on one or two nuggets of wisdom that come back to you at a time of need, well, that is how we pass the flame on to the next generation.

I will endeavor to provide a clear foundation for you to build on, both for your relationship to the instrument and to dealing with other humans in your life, for that is what music is all about. Interaction, communication, experience, joy and harmony with our fellow humans.
