Eric Wayne

Musician / Sound Engineer / Producer

Eric is a professional trumpet player in the San Francisco Bay Area, performing in groups ranging from symphonic to jazz to alternative acoustic folk. 

He received his musical training at the University of Northern Colorado's School of Music, studying with the well known trumpet pedagogue William Pfund. Other teaches include Gene Aitken, Buddy Baker, Jack Herrick, Mark Rafael, Wayne Wallace, and David Zuercher.

Eric has over 30 years experience in audio engineering and production for radio broadcast, video post and music. He is an award winning producer in both short news features, and long form radio documentaries. He was the Editor and Technical Producer for the award winning radio show, “New America Now,” the Producer/Editor/Engineer of “Explorations in Music”, and the producer and sound designer for "Inflection Point with Lauren Schiller," all were heard on KALW in San Francisco. 

In 2012 he launched the record label Digital Victrola.

  • 2005: Society of Professional Journalists award for in depth reporting for "The Story of the GI Bill".

  • 2005: NFCB Silver Reel Award for Local News and Public Affairs Features.

  • May 2005: AWRT Kudo Award of Excellence for Best Public Affairs Radio Program.

  • 2004: PRNDI Second Place (Division C) for News/Public Affairs Programs.

  • 2004: PRNDI First Place (Division C) award for Commentaries.

  • 2004: NFCB Silver Reel Award for Arts Features and Reporting.

  • 2003: NFCB Special Merit award for Local News and Commentaries.

Accomplishments and Credits include:

  • 2012 - 2013 Ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the recording of 2 CDs for Jeff Sanford’s Cartoon Jazz Band on this Digital Victrola label.

  • 2005 – current: Producer, writer, editor, and engineer for “Explorations in Music,” a multi-part radio program of lectures and performances, highlighting a specific composer. Partners include the Alexander String Quartet, Robert Greenberg, San Francisco Performances, and KALW public radio.

  • January 2004: Sound Designer for Robert Henry Johnson’s premier with Oakland Ballet - “La feme du Puits.”

  • October 2002: Sound Designer for Dwight Rhoden’s ballet “Glory Fugue,” world premiere by the Oakland Ballet.

  • 1999: Co-produced a CD, “International House of Dreams” for The pickPocket Ensemble, a musical trio that Mr. Wayne co-founded, performed in, and wrote music for.
